Scanning
After a physical collectible has been accepted for “DOTenisation”, we send it for 3D scanning. Multiple 2D images from different side views are obtained to construct a 3D model and create a digital twin of the collectible. In some cases, the digital twin may be further modified to create a fingerprint ID or a 3-dimensional ID (similar to face ID in mobile phones) to enhance authenticity.
The fingerprint ID and face ID of a physical collectible is generated through our proprietary AI system for future identification by the following procedures:
1) Obtaining multiple 2D image documents of the cultural asset that is being appraised from different side-view.
2) Conducting extraction and matching of key feature points in the above-mentioned 2D image documents.
3) Using the epipolar constraint relationship of the matched key feature points to obtain the 3D coordinates in the coordinate system, to build the sparse point cloud.
4) Expanding the above-mentioned sparse point cloud into the dense point cloud to enrich the 3D information.
5) Rebuilding the surface by filling the occlusion of the above-mentioned dense point cloud and transferring the 2D texture information into the 3D model by texture mapping.
